About Me

I am delighted to offer prints of my current Alaska work on this site, with plans to make additional releases of current and past work in the near future. My work is available to view and purchase in person at Sevigny Studio in downtown Anchorage, The Loon on Kenai Lake in Cooper Landing, Fireweed Gallery in Homer, and Kaladi Brothers Cafe in JL Tower in midtown Anchorage.

Artist Statement:

I find the stories nature shares with us to be as compelling as the most dramatic fictions we can come up with. Undergraduate geology courses taught me how to listen to what the natural world has to say. Ten-thousand-year-old glaciers, canyons carved by rivers, the way continents seem to fit together – these are all things that, collectively, we can see and, along with other observations, unravel into stories that help us make sense of our beautiful surroundings. Planet Earth provides clues to decipher its grand narratives. We only need to look for them.

Landscape photography is the means I use to tune in to the world around me. Whether during a quick walk around a park or a ten-day backpacking trip, in quiet moments with nature I find peace and an intense curiosity, sparking inspiration every time I go outside. The rhythm of the seasons, the life cycle of salmon, and the aurora borealis are a few of many muses that challenge me to consider the world beyond myself. Photography can be an exercise of trying to “get the shot,” but I find it encourages patience and enjoyment of the moment. It is meditative to ponder nature’s stories while trying to translate them into images through a camera. The natural world leaves me refreshed in its beauty, humbled by its power, and open to seeing more.
